Montenegro is truly one of the most gorgeous gems of a country I’ve been blessed enough to visit for the first time this year. Many of us may have heard of Croatia, which is in the Western Balkans, and is also where you’ll find beautiful Montenegro. As well as having personal encounters with people who have visited, those who are scrolling through social media holiday feeds can definitely see the hype of content around Montenegro as a holiday destination. That hype is for a reason my friends! 

Montenegro is my 59th country visit, and was beautifully spent. Before even arriving into the country, I had deeply researched so much, throughout the two gorgeous cities I fell in love with; Kotor and Budva. I research EVERYTHING; from journey distances, to temperature, to restaurant menus, to Google street views. I guess that’s why I also own a travel company!

Without further ado, please see the below itinerary showing a brief overview of the trip I took this year May-June, in stunning Montenegro:

Day 1 — Touchdown & Coastal Magic

You land in Podgorica, the calmer, more seamless airport option for travellers. Your private car hire is ready on arrival — staying with you throughout the trip for stress‑free movement. Great places to book: booking.com or trip.com. (We saved hundreds by renting a car, as taxis are super expensive. Please note!)

We stayed in Bonaca apartments. Gorgeous cosy apartments with stunning mountain views never got old!

Kick off your Montenegro escape with a luxe beach moment at Aura Tivat Beach Club, where the water is impossibly blue and the vibe is effortlessly chic. The infinity pool with the view is breathtaking, as well as the overall vibe, drinks, food and staff. A perfect way to kick off a gorgeous break. 

Next, head up the Kotor Cable Cars for panoramic views that instantly make you fall in love with the country.

Wrap up the day with sunset drinks at Monte 1350 Bar, watching the sky melt into gold over the mountains with a DJ playing soulful tracks. A perfect way to end the first night! 

Day 2 — Kotor’s Charm & Slow Living

Spend the morning wandering through Kotor Old Town, a maze of medieval streets, stone walls, and hidden squares. It’s the kind of place where every corner feels like a postcard.

Then it’s time to explore another gem — just a 1‑hour scenic drive away. City number 2 – Budva!

The rest of the day is yours to unwind — beach, café hopping, or simply soaking in the breeze.

Day 3 — Budva Bliss & Blue Cave Adventure

Today you move from Kotor to the vibrant coastal town of Budva.

Check into Montenegrina resort and spa, settle in, and get ready for one of Montenegro’s highlights — a boat trip to the Blue Cave. Crystal waters, dramatic cliffs, and that iconic electric‑blue glow make it unforgettable.

Day 4 — Lakeside Calm & Beach Vibes

Your final day takes you to the serene Skadar Lake, a peaceful escape surrounded by nature, wildlife, and glassy waters.

Afterwards, enjoy a relaxed beach day — Montenegro’s coastline is full of hidden coves and sandy stretches perfect for unwinding before heading home.
