… and I say this from the perspective of a travel lover and explorer, who has devoted the past couple of years to travelling up to 8 West African countries.
But of course, as tweets accumulate thousands of likes like mine did, comes with a lot of ignorance and lack of education, especially when it comes to this side of the world.

Happy new year!
Now I’m planning to be completely impartial and non bias – I think this is possible especially being a journalist.
I spent Christmas with family in London and shortly after headed to Ghana and Nigeria. Both visits were for a number of different reasons; a wedding in each, work meetings and networking, and enjoyment!
“What’s your favourite country visit?” is often a hard question to answer. I’ve just returned from the glorious motherland, my parents’ original home, and experienced it in the best way I could imagine.
It’s refreshing knowing that through my social media accounts, I was able to change ignorant minds and thoughts about Nigeria.
Before I start this post, going away every other month was genuinely something I never thought I’d imagine doing. But with a bit of budgeting and forward planning, it happened!
Here are the main points I always ensure and consider in order to travel every other month:
1. We get loads of time off work.
No we don’t. We get the same 19 (28, including bank holidays in the UK) holiday days that you do. We don’t take days off for doctors appointments, we savour our holiday days for actual h o l i d a y s.
2. We have loads of money.
Nope, even my friends that don’t travel as much as I do make more money than me. I save here and there and decide if some of my pay goes towards a holiday.
